The City of Caraway was previously home to the All American Red Heads professional women’s basketball team. The All American Red Heads played from 1936 - 1986, playing in Caraway starting in 1955.

Also at the end of the 40's into the 50's, the City of Caraway also supported a Semi Pro Baseball Team known as the Caraway Redbirds. They usually held an exhibition game with the St. Louis Cardinals on their trip home after spring training. Residents still remember watching Enos Slaughter, Jay Hannah "Dizzy Dean", announcer Harry Caray, and others at the local ballpark.

Throughout the years Caraway has thrived on people in the community that volunteer their time to serve. Caraway has a volunteer fire department, and one of only a few volunteer basic ambulance services, both of which charge nothing for their service. Citizens also volunteer for our annual Fourth of July picnic that is followed by a fireworks display.

The most recent group of volunteers had fund raisers and along with a state grant, recently added a Veterans Memorial to our city park. The names of all the citizens that have served in the Armed Forces throughout history are named on the memorial, including the notable Nick Bacon who was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor during the Vietnam War.

Today, Caraway has a population of 1,279 (according to the 2010 Census) and is proud to be in the Riverside School District; Riverside is one of three High Schools in the state of Arkansas that offers R.E.A.D. program. This allows high school seniors to not only graduate with a diploma, but with a college associate degree as well.  

For those who like the outdoors, Caraway has two baseball fields and a park for the little ones to play. The city also has two walking tracks, one which surrounds a stocked fish pond.

There is real estate available and Caraway has many opportunities for growth.
